Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has announced the formation of a special force for the release of the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
Sohail Afridi said that he has been entrusted with the responsibility of the street movement by the founder of PTI and he will supervise the process of establishing and registering the force.
Talking to the media outside the Supreme Court, Sohail Afridi said that this force will wage a peaceful struggle and the members of the force will take oath in Peshawar immediately after Eid.
He clarified that the chain of command of the force will be with respect to the founder of PTI and whoever is given the responsibility will take command of the force.
Sohail Afridi added that “First preparation will be done, then the fight will be fought.” This fight will be for the protection of democracy, the supremacy of the constitution and a free media.”
The Chief Minister also criticized the judiciary and the administrative system, saying that court orders are often ignored and the PTI founder is not being given access to personal doctors.
The announcement has created a stir in political circles and is expected to create new tensions in the country’s political landscape.
