KURRAM: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Khan Afridi paid a day-long visit to Lower Kurram, where he visited the camp of internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Central Kurram and announced a relief package for the affected people.
Addressing the victims, the Chief Minister said that the provincial government is well aware of their problems and they will not be left alone. He made important announcements and said that victims of Central Kurram will be given a special relief package on the lines of the victims of Tirah Valley (Khyber District).
The Chief Minister directed the concerned authorities to ensure the provision of all basic facilities to the families residing inside the camp. Sohail Afridi expressed his determination that his first effort is to enable the early and dignified return of all the affected families to their native areas.
Regarding law and order and the resolution of regional disputes, the Chief Minister announced that a big Jirga on the pattern of the “Pakhtun Jirga” held in Khyber District will be convened in Kurram soon, so that lasting peace can be ensured in consultation with all stakeholders.
During his visit, the Chief Minister also made a brief inspection of the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital and reviewed the medical facilities there. On this occasion, the elders who came from Parachinar recorded their concerns over the neglect of the district headquarters in development works, to which the Chief Minister assured that all areas would be treated equally.
