PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has announced the establishment of a medical college and a university, to be named the Tribal University and Arshad Sharif University of Investigative Journalism.
He made this statement while addressing a high-level meeting of the provincial secretaries under his chairmanship, in which important development projects for the merged districts were announced. During the meeting, the Chief Minister announced the establishment of Tribal Medical College, Tribal University of Modern Sciences and University of Investigative and Modern Journalism in the name of Shaheed Arshad Sharif. Along with this, approval was also given to build playgrounds in all districts and launching the start the Safe City Project.
The meeting reviewed the progress on the good governance roadmap, the law and order situation, and anti-corruption measures in detail. Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said that an attempt was made to rob the people’s mandate, but provincial officers played an important role in protecting the democratic mandate. Awards were announced for those officers, while action was indicated against officers who acted against the public interest.
Sohail Afridi clarified that a zero-tolerance policy has been adopted against corruption in the province; no one will be allowed to commit corruption. He said that all government employees and the government are servants of the people, and an officer who does not live up to public trust will not remain in his post. The Chief Minister said that he did not traditionally come to work, but steps would be taken to make the people feel real change. He directed that a conceptual examination system be introduced to eliminate the rota system in the province.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister clarified that no arrests will be made in the province under any political case or 3MPO. The meeting decided that the goal of development of the merged districts will be forwarded on a priority basis so that the people there can be provided with better education, health and employment opportunities.
