PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, after taking office, has convened the first official meeting of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Cabinet to be held on 14th November 2025. Besides that, the ministers as well as cabinet members, special assistants, and advisors were invited by the chief secretary to participate in the session that the chief minister will be presiding over personally.

Sources from the government said that more than 50 proposals comprising important decisions and resolutions feature in the agenda of the meeting that will be held on the day. Among these issues slated for discussion are the security stabilizing measures to be taken after the approval of the Peace Jirga report, which was held to address the security situation in the province, and the Peace Jirga declaration approval at the official level.

Topics of Discussion at the Meeting

In the meeting, they will also touch upon diverse and significant issues pertaining to the management and progress of the province. Specifically, the agenda has an item for the approval of exchanging 25 vehicles of the government for the District Session Judges. Furthermore, an initiative to increase the toll tax by 1/5th at the Swat Expressway will be tabled for discussion.

The other significant aspect that the council will consider is the budget allocation of the special funds earmarked for the victims of terror and forcibly displaced in Tirah and North Waziristan. Besides, these budgets are to be utilized for revival and repatriation in the areas recently affected and where slow-going has been the trend of the last couple of years in these sections.

Security and Infrastructure Proposals

One of the main topics expected to be discussed by the cabinet is an initiative to provide a police vehicle equipped with bulletproof glass for a bench of the Peshawar High Court as a part of security enhancement programs for judicial personnel in the region.

The decisions are a manifestation, according to political commentators, of the new governance strategies targeting firstly security issues in the province, after which come the rehabilitation of the affected regions and the better road and building networks of the province, which have been severely tested in these past years.

An Important Milestone

The next meeting is a significant milestone in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s administration led by Sohail Afridi. It’s the occasion wherein the cabinet members will meet for the very first time after the new chief executive assumes office and act as a medium for the crucial policy shifts along with government initiatives fostering the return of peace and development in the province.
