PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) provincial cabinet has a detailed 35-point agenda to discuss on Friday (today). The meeting will be chaired by Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi. The session will be attended by the ministers, special assistants, and advisors along with the secretaries who are of the highest rank, including the Chief Secretary.
The 35-item agenda encompasses a spectrum of topics with several significant resolutions anticipated. One of the issues includes sanctioning the martyr’s package for the family of Shaheed Constable Mohammad Wali from Khyber Police. The cabinet will additionally deliberate on naming Javed Ali as the Director of the Higher Education Academy of Research and Training in Peshawar.
Moreover, the cabinet is set to review the appointment of a Khyber Pakhtunkhwa delegate to the governing board of the Pakistan Engineering Council. There will also be deliberations on a proposal to sanction a seed fund amounting to 100 million rupees for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Foundation.
Other important matters include a constitutional amendment bill for 2025, the approval of a non-ADP scheme for cleaning flood debris and restoring waterways, and a recommendation for changes in the names and costs of various water resource schemes.
CM Afridi directs weekly cabinet meetings to improve governance
On November 30, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi has decided to hold provincial cabinet meetings every Friday to improve governance.
The Chief Secretary has been issued instructions regarding the cabinet meetings. The Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary, Abid Majeed, sent a circular to Chief secretary Shahab Ali Shah, stating that CM Sohail Afridi has directed that cabinet meetings be convened every Friday.
The purpose of this decision is to monitor departmental affairs, improve efficiency and speed in government work, review urgent matters, and ensure timely progress on various issues.
The circular also instructs the Chief Secretary to inform all ministers and departments about the Chief Minister’s decision.
Special assistant to the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for information and public relations, Shafi Jan, said that national interest and public welfare remain the top priorities of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.
Speaking at a ceremony at Saint Joseph’s Convent School and College in Kohat, he said the provincial government had imposed an education and health emergency to improve service delivery in the two key sectors.
