PESHAWAR: An important and high-level meeting of the provincial assembly’s special committee has been called tomorrow to review the law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to a statement issued by the assembly secretariat, the meeting will be held at 12 noon tomorrow in the Rehman Baba Conference Room of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly and will be chaired by the Speaker of the provincial assembly.
The statement said that the meeting will be specially attended by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and the Leader of the Opposition, which aimed to take all political stakeholders into confidence regarding security in the province and formulate a joint strategy.
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has also been summoned for the meeting, who will give a detailed briefing to the participants of the special committee on the overall law and order situation in the province, recent incidents and security measures taken by the police.
According to sources, the meeting will discuss the security situation in sensitive areas and ongoing operations against terrorism, while the government and the opposition will jointly formulate concrete recommendations for establishing peace in the province.
