The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Secretariat has issued a formal notification for the appointment of new members elected on reserved seats belonging to the opposition for various standing committees of the provincial assembly.

According to this new notification, the members elected to women’s and minority seats have been assigned responsibilities in various committees in view of their expertise and the importance of the departments.

Sitara Afridi has been made a member of the Revenue and Estate, Aiman ​​Jalil Jan has been made a member of the Higher Education, while Madina Gul Afridi has been made a member of the Relief and Rehabilitation Standing Committee. Rabia Shaheen will serve as a member of the Climate Change and Forests Committee, Niloofar Begum will serve as a member of the Information and Public Relations Committee, Nahida Noor will serve as a member of the Energy Committee, and Arifa Bibi will serve as a member of the Law and Human Rights Standing Committees.

Similarly, Afshan Hussain has been appointed as a member of the Food Department, Shazia Jadoon and Jamila Paracha as members of the Health Department, while Farah Khan has been appointed as a member of the Finance Key Committee.

According to the announcement, Shazia Tehmash Khan, Meher Sultana, Ashbar Jan Jadoon, and Khadija Bibi have been included in the establishment committee, while Farzana Shirin has been given the responsibility of Local Government and Rural Development, and Nadia Sher has been given the responsibilities of the Relief and Settlement departments.

Shahida has been selected for the transport committee, and Asker Pervez has been selected for the planning and development committee. Representing the minority community, Gurpal Singh has been made part of the food committee, Suresh Kumar has been made part of the housing committee, and Byari Lal has been made part of the standing committee on labor.

These appointments are expected to further enhance the participation of opposition members in the legislative and oversight process of the provincial assembly.
