PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Monday unanimously passed a resolution seeking the provincial government to provide additional time for candidates to prepare for the upcoming Provincial Management Service (PMS) examinations.

Member of the Provincial Assembly Abdul Karim Khan presented the resolution. According to the text of the resolution, PMS examinations are being held in the province after an eight-year gap, and candidates require sufficient time to prepare effectively.

Lawmakers emphasised that the exams are of great importance for aspiring civil servants, and the sudden announcement has caused concern among candidates. The resolution called on the government and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Public Service Commission (KPPSC) to review the exam schedule and ensure students are given adequate preparation time.

Following the debate, the resolution was unanimously passed by the House.

The Law and Order Special Committee of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly will hold a meeting on November 3 at 12:00 PM in the Provincial Assembly Secretariat, as per the confirmation by the officials.

An official notification informed that the meeting will first review the overall security situation in the area and the problems faced by the police, and then discuss the anti-terrorism measures that have been put into practice in the province.

Sources stated that the Home Department, Police, and the Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will elaborate on the security issues and brief the session accordingly.

KP Assembly Speaker, Babar Saleem Swati, has also invited the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Faisal Karim Kundi, to attend the meeting. The Governor agreed to the invitation and pledged his attendance, further saying that he would extend his full support if the Speaker calls him for any provincial matters.

He underlined that the provincial government, apart from being on the same page with the Assembly and the executive branch, will also be actively involved in addressing the concerns of the people like law and order issues.
