PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Monday moved a bill to amend the Public Service Commission Act.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Monday witnessed a procedural exchange over the legislative timeline for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Public Service Commission Amendment Bill 2026. The bill was formally presented in the House by Provincial Law Minister Aftab Alam during the session held in Peshawar.

Upon the introduction of the amendment, Minister Aftab Alam moved a motion to refer the bill to the relevant Standing Committee, requesting that the committee complete its task and report back within two days. However, the Speaker intervened, maintaining that such a timeframe was impractical for the matter at hand.

The Speaker ruled that it cannot be done in two days and instead directed that the bill be sent to the committee for a period of 15 days to allow for proper deliberation. Following the Speaker’s directive, the bill was officially referred to the committee for an extended duration.
