PESHAWAR: An Important development in the Kohistan Financial Scandal came to light, as the Head clerk Qaiser Iqbal of the C&W department has offered a 14 billion plea bargain to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

The main accused in the Kohistan Financial Scandal and Head Clerk of the C&W Department, Qaiser Iqbal, has filed a plea bargain application of Rs 14 billion in the Accountability Court. According to NAB sources, the accused gave his application to the NAB investigation officer, which was later submitted to the Accountability Court by NAB officers.

The court has sent the application to the DG NAB, and after the approval of the NAB Chairman, this application will be re-filed in the court, after which the court will confirm the plea bargain. According to NAB, Qaiser Iqbal withdrew billions of rupees in the name of development schemes, while these schemes did not exist on the ground. The accused built houses, flats, plazas, expensive vehicles, cash, and gold in his name, his wife and other relatives’ names. More than 32 accused have been arrested in the Kohistan financial scandal so far.

After hearing all the arguments, accountability judge Hamid Mughal rejected the accused’s bail and issued orders to immediately transfer her to jail. The petitioner is a school teacher, while her lawyer presented the position before the court that only a salary account exists in the name of the accused’s husband.

The NAB prosecutor informed the court that Rs 200 million was recovered from the accused’s house, and transactions worth crores of rupees were made to the accused from the four bank accounts of accused Fahim, arrested in this scandal. According to NAB, all these transactions are in the file with documentary records, and the accused’s assets worth crores of rupees are also under surveillance. The court rejected the bail application after reviewing all the evidence and arguments.
