DIAMAR: The Karakoram Highway was blocked after a heavy landslide on the main artery at the Gonar farm area connecting Gilgit Baltistan with the rest of the country. Seven cars were also damaged, which were struck by the landslide on Tuesday morning.
Spokesperson to Diamar Deputy Commissioner, Raja Ishfaq Tahir, told Pakhtun Digital that a total of seven cars were damaged in the landslide incident. However, passengers remained unhurt.
The Spokesperson said that efforts were underway to reopen the road for all sorts of traffic, as hundreds of vehicles were stranded on the road. The incident involved a range of vehicles, including motor cars, a Vigo, a Hiace, and a truck.
Among the affected drivers was Asghar, son of Muhammad Nawaz, a resident of Lahore, who was in a motor car with vehicle number LEF7142. Shujat Syed, son of Akhtar from Gunar Farm, was driving a Vigo vehicle with the registration number AFP 889.
Another motor car, GLT.54, was driven by Abuzar from Hudoor. Abdul Latif, a Hiace with vehicle number GLT 04, while Muhammad Akram, son of Rahim Dad from Battagram, was in a truck marked GLT B 15657. Additionally, a filter vehicle (GZR.D2) was driven by Muzammil Wali, son of Javed Wali, a resident of Ghizer, and another Hiace with vehicle number GLT 2277 was operated by Mumtaz, son of Ramzan from Thalichi Goharabad
