KHYBER: The Khyber Police on Tuesday suspended nine police personnel, including the police post in charge, over a prisoner escape from their custody.
According to sources, while taking action over the prisoner escape, the Khyber Police took notice of the serious incident of the prisoner’s escape from the custody of Bara Police and ordered the suspension of nine police personnel.
The police source says the police post Syed Karim, Amjad Afridi, is among the suspended police officials.
The suspended police officers have been asked by the authorities to immediately report to the police line Shah Kass.
According to sources, the escaped prisoner, Hawaldar Dawood, belongs to the Stori Khel tribe, who has been in charge of the Kote Ziarat Check Post before. However, he allegedly escaped or was helped to escape from the Syed Karim Check Post on Monday.
Police sources say that according to initial reports, Dawood is currently hiding in Orkazai, where police are conducting raids to arrest him.
The suspended police personnel include, in charge of the Syed Karim Check Post Amjad Afridi, Abdul Qadir, Muhammad Arif, Shakeel, Shawal Akbar, Muhammad, Muhammad Asif, Shahzad and Arif, on charges of negligence and alleged facilitation.
According to police sources, the escaped officials, Dawood and Syedwali, who are said to belong to Akka Khel, were involved in the robbery of a flour dealer. At present, both are absconding, and efforts are underway to arrest them.
The Khyber police head said that there is no room for dirty people in the area, no matter who they are, while Bara is also showing positive results in robberies, some of which have been recovered, and further action is underway.
The wanted prisoner police officer was the main role in the robbery of Rs. 3.5 million from an atta dealer in Bara Bazaar yesterday.
