PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Fisheries Department has reported a significant increase in revenue this year.

On the special directives of the Provincial Minister for Livestock, Fisheries & Cooperatives, Mr Fazal Hakim Yousafzai, and Secretary Livestock, Mr Tahir Khan Orakzai, the Director General of Fisheries, Mr Muhammad Shafi Marwat, instructed district officers to ensure that the department remains entirely free of corruption, with revenue generation maintained as the top priority.
As a result of strict monitoring, the department’s performance has improved significantly, leading to a fourfold increase in revenue.
As per details, Tanda Dam Kohat, which was auctioned for Rs. 8 million last year, fetched Rs. 24 million this year. Similarly, Zameer Gul Dam Kohat saw an increase from Rs. 2.5 million last year to Rs. 12.6 million this year. Revenue from Darmalak Dam rose from Rs. 1.5 million to Rs. 3.6 million, while Azakhel Dam Peshawar went up from Rs. 1.4 million to Rs. 6.7 million.

Officials have described this progress as a symbol of positive transformation and renewed commitment within the department. If this momentum continues, the fisheries sector will not only play a vital role in strengthening the province’s economy but will also serve as a milestone in restoring public trust.
