LAHORE: In the second match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 edition, the Karachi Kings defeated the Quetta Gladiators by 14 runs. The match was played at Gaddafi Stadium, where the Gladiators managed to score 167 runs for the loss of 7 wickets while chasing a target of 182 runs set by the Kings.
Shamil Hussain’s impressive innings of 52 runs off just 24 balls went in vain, as captain Saud Shakeel was dismissed for 33 runs. Riley Rossouw was bowled out by Hassan Ali for 25 runs, while McDermott also contributed 25 runs before getting out. Hassan Nawaz scored 19 runs off 24 balls. Khawaja Nafi fell to Adam Zampa, scoring only 3 runs, and Tom Curran was dismissed without scoring.
For the Karachi Kings, Hassan Ali excelled with the ball, taking 4 wickets for 27 runs. Salman Ali Agha, Adam Zampa, and Moeen Ali each claimed one wicket.
Earlier, batting first, the Karachi Kings posted a total of 181 runs for the loss of 7 wickets, setting a target of 182 runs for the Gladiators to chase. Moeen Ali was the standout performer with a swift innings of 48 runs off 29 balls, while captain David Warner contributed with 35 runs. Saad Baig scored 30 runs, Salman Ali Agha added 22 runs, wicketkeeper Azam Khan made 14 runs, and Khushdil Shah managed 12 runs.
For the Quetta Gladiators, Ahmed Daniyal was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets, while Alzari Joseph took 2 wickets. Usman Tariq and Abrar Ahmed each took 1 wicket.
Quetta Gladiators’ captain Saud Shakeel won the toss and elected to field first, citing the potential impact of dew. He included both Abrar Ahmed and Usman Tariq in the team. Meanwhile, David Warner expressed his satisfaction in continuing to lead the Karachi Kings and hopes for a better performance this season.
