KALAM: Residents of Kalam protested against a possible operation in the valley, urging the government and district administration to avoid any action in the tourist area.

During the protest, representatives of the Kalam hotel association described the proposed operation as anti-tourism and equated it to an economic blow to the local business community. They warned that such measures, if implemented before the start of the tourist season, could negatively impact the local economy.

Following the demonstration, additional deputy commissioner Muheb ullah held negotiations in a jirga with Mayor Bahrain, MPA Mian Sharafat Ali, representatives of the hotel association, and local elders. After detailed discussions, the jirga decided that any potential operation would first require proper demarcation of the area.

According to the unanimous decision, the demarcation process, led by a representative committee, will begin tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. The district administration and local representatives expressed hope that the decision would help restore normality and rebuild public confidence in the region.
