SHEIKHUPURA: Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, the Secretary-General of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), has stated that the country’s economy and security will not improve without transparent elections.
Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, at a press conference in Sheikhupura, was very direct in his accusation against the government party, which he claimed prevailed by having some religious scholars in their employ, who were then brought in to speak. He also said that the provincial government is trying to extend financial support to scholars but nobody seems to be interested in it.
He further claimed that the establishment would not be consulted for power-sharing even if the party has ruled for 75 years and continues to do so. “Since the birth of Pakistan, the national assets have been in the hands of an incompetent and corrupt group who have been selling them off and taking new loans which have resulted in the economy being ruined.”
Maulana Haideri, while commenting, said that Balochistan has suffered since the misuse of electricity was done for 75 years, and 35% of the Pakistani population is still below the poverty line.
He further said that the stability of Pakistan is totally dependent on that of Afghanistan, and heaping all sorts of negative tags on the Taliban is meaningless; the party supports dialogue with TTP (Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan) only.
Ex-Governor Ghulam Ali slams federal and provincial governments over political point-scoring
Earlier, former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Haji Ghulam Ali criticized the federal and provincial administrations for prioritizing “political point scoring” over solving the country’s real problems.
Talking to the media in Charsadda, he said that the political situation in Pakistan is so bad that it scares him and at the same time, difficulties for the people increase every day.
Haji Ghulam Ali turned to the governments at the centre and in the province to respect the constitution and come together for talks to solve the problems of the country.
He said that removing the scourge of terrorism is not the single-handed task of a provincial or federal government but a joint, agreed and concerted strategy is required.
He insisted that the government along with the state and other state institutions, must formulate a comprehensive policy to counter terrorism. Furthermore, he noted that the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan differs significantly from that of Punjab and Sindh.
“While development can be seen in Punjab and Sindh, the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been left behind for the last 12 years” he said. In addition to this, he criticized the PTI also by saying that the party was busy with political slogans and public issues were kept in the dark.
