SWAT: Federal Minister for Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan affairs and SAFRON, Amir Muqam, has claimed that the issue of flour crises in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was discussed with the Punjab Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz and put up in the apex committee.

Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan, and SAFRON, Engineer Amir Muqam, addressed local journalists in Swat on Sunday regarding the ongoing flour crisis in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He mentioned that this issue has been discussed in the Apex Committee meeting, and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has been informed about the difficulties faced by the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He assured that the problem would be resolved soon.

Engineer Amir Muqam explained that the shortage of flour in the province has been caused by the smuggling of flour to Afghanistan. He emphasised that, as a public representative, he cannot ignore the issues faced by the community. “I have spoken out for the rights of the people in the past, I am doing so today, and I will continue to do so in the future,” he stated. He urged the provincial government to immediately release the wheat stored in government warehouses to help control the crisis.

He expressed disappointment that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has not taken the issue seriously. Furthermore, Engineer Amir Muqam mentioned that he has informed the Punjab Chief Minister about the additional charges being imposed on flour dealers and trucks, to which Maryam Nawaz Sharif has promised to address the matter. He stressed that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government must take immediate action to provide relief to the people.
