ISLAMABAD: The district administration has launched strict action against taxi and bike drivers operating without registration in the federal capital.

Authorities have decided to formally register all online taxi services, under which complete details of drivers and their vehicles will be collected. The Additional Deputy Commissioner (East) has been directed to coordinate with the chief executives of all ride-hailing companies, while the Deputy Commissioner has instructed the Secretary of the Islamabad Transport Authority to take action against unregistered bike riders.

The Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad said that all unregistered vehicles and motorcycles will be brought under a digitally automated registration system, with Islamabad Police also granted access to the registration data through a dedicated app.

Once registered, drivers will be required to upload passenger details on the app, and no ride will be permitted without registering the passenger’s CNIC number.

On the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner, the formal registration process will begin from tomorrow.
