ISLAMABAD: The ex-chairman of Sunni Ittehad Council, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, was taken into custody by Islamabad Police when he was on his way from Peshawar to Faisalabad to surrender himself to the police. Thus, it was not a planned surrender but an arrest that took place on the spot by Raza’s police.

His arrest was also spoken of by the Acting Chairman of the Sunni Ittehad Council, Sahibzada Hassan Raza, who said that they would go to the bottom of the matter to find the truth and get their leader released.

Close sources to the Sunni Ittehad Council divulged that Raza was even coordinating with the police and had intended to give himself up, however, the unexpected arrest of Raza has caused a stir. Members of the council will, no doubt, comment more on this issue in the next few days.

Islamabad‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Police attempts to arrest KP CM Afridi and Junaid Akbar

Earlier on Thursday, the police of Islamabad came to the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa House late on Thursday night with arrest warrants for the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sohail Afridi, and the provincial president of PTI, Junaid Akbar.

By the time police with the warrants reached the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa officials’ residence, they were told that Afridi and Akbar had already gone. The officers had the warrant in hand, but they were too late because CM Sohail Afridi had already left the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House and Junaid Akbar was not there when the police came.

It is reported that the police left the residence after the encounter and gave the arrest warrants to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House administration. The police did not make any arrests during the visit.

On social media, a PTI leader Shahid Khattak, wrote that Sohail Afridi is in Peshawar and he came from Adiala Jail to Peshawar. Khattak also said that the Chief Minister was not in Islamabad when the police carried out their ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌operation.
