ISLAMABAD (Mehwish Qamas Khan) District and Sessions Courts, Islamabad, on Wednesday issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi over making misleading allegations against state institutions and tarnishing its reputation.
The District and Sessions Court in Islamabad has ordered the authorities to arrest the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sohail Afridi, and bring him before the court due to his failure to appear.
Senior Civil Judge Abbas Shah presided over the case against Sohail Afridi. The court has postponed further proceedings in the case until February 10. The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) had filed charges against Sohail Afridi under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).
PHC bars arrest of KP CM Sohail Afridi until Nov 18
The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Thursday issued a written order restraining the federal government from arresting Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Sohail Afridi in connection with any pending or registered cases until November 18, 2025.
The order came during the hearing of Afridi’s protective bail petition at PHC. A bench of the high court directed the provincial Advocate General and the Assistant Attorney General to receive notices and appear at the next hearing.
The court, on the occasion, further directed the petitioner to provide a comprehensive list of all cases registered against CM Afridi, if any, and submit the details before the next hearing date.
The court adjourned the hearing until November 18 and maintained that the CM-KP must not be arrested in the meantime.
However, advocates Alam Khan Adenizi and Bashir Khan Wazir appeared before the court on behalf of the petitioner.
