CALIFORNIA: Google has come up with a rather alarming warning, stating that 40% of Android phones are vulnerable to new cyber attacks. The tech company has confirmed that these phones are at risk of being attacked by malware and spyware.

Google announced that they would only protect 58% of global phones from security threats that targeted Android Twilio and earlier Android versions.

The data, gathered as of December 2025, shows that only 7.5% of phones operated on the newest Android 16, while 19.3% of devices used Android 15 and 17.9% of devices operated Android 14 and 13.9% of phones ran Android 13. The information shows an alarming trend because Google has stopped providing security updates for all devices that use Android 12 and earlier versions.

The absence of security updates has resulted in a situation where 1 billion users are threatened by new cyber threats. The users will have limited options to protect their devices from future security threats.

Google protects Android 13 and later versions, but users with old devices should consider buying new devices for improved security.

The warning is present because Android phones are currently under severe malware and spyware attacks, and users with devices that cannot be updated should protect their data immediately.
