ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar announced that a high-level quadrilateral meeting held in the capital focused on establishing an “early and permanent end” to the ongoing Middle East conflict.
Speaking to the media following consultations with his counterparts from Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, and Egypt, Dar noted that the four nations explored concrete ways to halt the regional war. He described the second meeting of this diplomatic group as the primary purpose of the foreign ministers’ visit to Islamabad.
In addition to the collective session, Dar held “very productive” bilateral discussions with each of the three visiting dignitaries. The foreign ministers also called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during their stay to further coordinate their strategic perspectives on regional stability.
Deputy Prime Minister/Minister for Foreign Affairs Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a meeting in Islamabad today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates of the Arab Republic of Egypt, H.E. Dr Badr Abdelatty.
The Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister warmly welcomed the Egyptian Foreign Minister and reaffirmed that Pakistan attaches great importance to its longstanding and brotherly relations with Egypt, anchored in shared history, common faith, and a convergence of views on regional and international issues.
Both sides reviewed the full spectrum of bilateral relations and expressed satisfaction with the positive momentum generated through recent high-level exchanges, including the visit of the Egyptian Foreign Minister to Pakistan in November 2025. They reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening cooperation across all domains.
The two ministers emphasised the need to enhance bilateral trade and investment. They agreed on the importance of activating bilateral mechanisms, including the Joint Ministerial Commission, and promoting business-to-business linkages.
The Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister appreciated Egypt’s continued support in the health sector, particularly in combating hepatitis C, and welcomed ongoing collaboration in this area.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the positive trajectory of defence and security cooperation and agreed to further strengthen collaboration through training exchanges and other institutional mechanisms.
The two sides exchanged views on regional and international developments, particularly the situation in the Middle East. They underscored the need for restraint, de-escalation, and the resolution of disputes through dialogue and diplomacy.
The Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people and strongly condemned the continued aggression by Israeli occupying forces in Gaza and the West Bank. He appreciated Egypt’s role in facilitating humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza, including support extended to Pakistan’s relief efforts.
Both sides agreed to continue close coordination at multilateral fora, including the United Nations and the OIC.
The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of Pakistan and Egypt to further strengthen their close and brotherly relations and to deepen cooperation across all areas of mutual interest.
The visit of the Egyptian Foreign Minister takes place as a follow-up to recent high-level contacts between the two sides, including discussions held in Riyadh on 19 March 2026, and reflects the close coordination between Pakistan and Egypt on evolving regional developments.

The meeting served as a vital platform for both nations to synchronise their positions on the rapidly shifting geopolitical landscape, with both leaders engaging in comprehensive discussions regarding the latest regional and international developments.
During the exchange, the two ministers emphasised that the current global climate requires a heightened reliance on dialogue and diplomacy. They called for unified, collective efforts to safeguard peace and security, particularly within the Middle East and South Asia. Both Dar and Prince Faisal underscored that stability is the prerequisite for regional prosperity and expressed a shared vision for a more integrated and peaceful neighbourhood.
The session concluded with a mutual reaffirmation of the deep-rooted strategic partnership between Pakistan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The two sides formally agreed to intensify their engagement through both bilateral channels and multilateral forums, such as the OIC and the United Nations. By pledging to work closer together, Islamabad and Riyadh aim not only to strengthen their own cooperation but also to act as a stabilising force for the broader international community.
