QUETTA: Due to the ongoing tensions between Iran and Israel, a total of 1,979 individuals, including 37 diplomats, have entered Pakistan through the Taftan border in the past few days.

The Balochistan Chief Minister, Mir Sardarfaraz Bugti announced that people escaping from the growing Iranian crisis used the Taftan border to enter Pakistan. He declared that the provincial government operates its complete system to handle the current situation while offering all required services to incoming passengers.

CM Balochistan said that “the Iran situation remains critical at present,” while his team “provides help to all border crossers who need our assistance.”

Mudassar Tipu, the Pakistani Ambassador to Iran, instructed Pakistani citizens who wish to return home to reach out to either the embassy or the consulates in Mashhad and Zahedan. He explained that the current crisis has created new difficulties that require citizens to contact their authorities for secure and prompt evacuation.

During a meeting to discuss Pakistani evacuation from Iran, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his gratitude to Azerbaijan for their assistance which enabled the safe return of Pakistani citizens to their home country. The Prime Minister stated that Pakistani diplomats in Azerbaijan currently assist with the evacuation efforts.

The number of people who enter Pakistan from Iran will rise during the upcoming days because of rising regional tensions.
