ISLAMABAD: Internet users across Pakistan are likely to experience slow speeds and possible service disruptions on January 15 as repair work on a submarine internet cable is scheduled to begin.
According to various Internet provider sources, the repair activity will start at around 2 pm and is expected to take up to eight hours to complete. During this period, internet speeds may remain sluggish as international bandwidth will be partially affected due to the maintenance work.
Telecom company Naya Tel has issued an alert to its customers through emails, warning of potential degradation in internet services during the repair process. Other service providers have also advised users to expect intermittent slow connectivity.
This is not the first time internet users have faced such issues in recent weeks. At the beginning of this month, large-scale internet slowdowns were reported nationwide. On January 1, 2026, users from various parts of the country complained of unusually slow internet speeds, disrupting online work, education and digital services.
Officials said submarine cable faults are a recurring challenge, and repairs often lead to temporary disruptions until full capacity is restored. Users have been advised to remain patient while the repair work is completed.
