The Indian opposition party Congress has criticised Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for linking the Asia Cup victory to Operation Sindoor adding that he (Modi) has no understanding of foreign policy and diplomacy.

The opposition party Congress has termed it unacceptable to link sports with war narratives. Congress leader Atul Patel raised the question of whether Modi has any understanding of foreign policy and diplomacy. If a match was played, it should have been played in the spirit of sports, and not turned into a war propaganda.  The position of the Indian Cricket Board on the issue of the Asia Cup 2025 trophy also came to light. On the other hand, Congress President in Maharashtra Harsh Vardhan Sikpal said that Modi injects politics and division everywhere, be it air, water, or sports.

He said that instead of taking care of the country’s prestige, Modi is also using sports for his political agenda and hatred. It should be noted that in the Asia Cup final played in Dubai yesterday, India defeated Pakistan by 5 wickets in the last over after a thrilling match.

Despite winning the tournament, the Indian team remained stubborn and refused to accept the trophy from Asian Cricket Council Chairman Mohsin Naqvi. However, Mohsin Naqvi also stood his ground, resulting in the Indian team leaving the ground disappointed without the trophy.
