An Indian Air Force microlight aircraft crashed during a routine training flight in Prayagraj (formerly Allahabad) in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Fortunately, there were no casualties in the accident and both pilots on board the aircraft were able to safely land on the ground by parachute.

The accident occurred in a pond behind KP College in the central area of ​​Prayagraj. The aircraft took off from Bamroli Air Base), which is also the headquarters of the Central Air Command of the Indian Air Force. According to initial reports, the plane suffered a technical failure in its engine, which caused the pilot to lose control. According to eyewitnesses, the plane was circling abnormally in the air for a long time before crashing.

Locals gathered in large numbers as soon as they heard the sound of the plane crash and informed the police and district administration. Fire brigade and rescue teams immediately reached the spot and started removing the debris from the pond. The Indian Air Force has ordered a formal Court of Inquiry to find out the causes of the incident so that it can be ascertained what was the real reason for the engine failure.

The plane crashed near a populated area, but due to the presence of mind of the pilots, it was possible to avoid any civilian buildings or casualties. In the videos going viral on social media, it can be seen that the wreckage of the plane is scattered around the pond and the pilots are landing in a safe place via parachute.

This is the second major air accident this month, after a small passenger plane had to make an emergency landing on January 10.
