Imran Khan’s son, Qasim Khan, has called on the European Union to revoke Pakistan’s GSP+ status. At a time when Pakistan’s economy is undergoing a fragile recovery, any move to undermine external trade privileges poses a direct threat to national interests.

The appeal by Imran Khan’s sons to revoke Pakistan’s GSP+ status is not only irresponsible but also prioritises personal political interests over the economic survival of millions. GSP+ is not merely a symbolic concession; it supports key export sectors, ensures massive employment, and provides Pakistan access to European markets. Using it as a political tool to protect an individual from legal action crosses every moral, political, and national boundary.

Such actions cannot be framed as dissent or democratic expression. They represent a deliberate effort to escalate internal political conflicts to the international level, jeopardising Pakistan’s economic stability, global reputation, and future. This is not opposition politics; it amounts to open economic sabotage. No state can tolerate elements that seek to use foreign powers against their own country for personal gain.
