RAWALPINDI: The police arrested Imran Khan’s sisters and MNA Shahid Khattak while a protest of PTI outside Adiala Jail turned violent. The protestors, who had come to visit the ex-Prime Minister Imran Khan, got their request turned down by the jail authorities which led to a wild demonstration.
Protestors who wanted to meet Imran Khan vowed to sit in outside the jail till the meeting was granted. Moreover, police attempts to resolve the issue through talks were unsuccessful. Consequently, the police sprayed water and drove the protestors out of the vicinity.
On the other hand, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan nicely pointed out the role of negotiations by saying, “Though we still keep demanding a meeting and our fight continues, there is no alternative to negotiation.”
The situation outside Adiala Jail caused police to increase security measures to prevent any more violence from breaking out.

Earlier, A protest by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) outside Adiala Jail ended with chaos when the police confronted the workers and leaders. The protestors who had come to meet the former Prime Minister Imran Khan were not allowed to go in by the jail authorities, and this led to a violent demonstration.
Protestors according to sources, said that they would stay at the place of protest until they got a chance to meet Imran Khan. The police and the demonstrators had talks, but nothing was settled. Police used water cannons to prevent the crowd from getting closer as the situation became more intense.
The protestors, who were in part carrying raincoats and shopping bags tied around their heads as a form of protection, showed their readiness to stay for a long time before the sit-in was over.
Through the protest, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said, “While we demand a meeting, our fight continues, but there is no substitute for negotiations.”
Meanwhile, the police reportedly arrested Imran Khan’s three sisters, including Aleema Khan, during the protest. They were at the site while the standoff was taking place.
The police’s use of water cannons led to the dispersal of PTI workers, and law enforcement soldiers took full control of the area. The authorities have since increased security measures in the region to avoid further escalation.
The protest outside Adiala Jail was triggered by the political dispute which resulted in the denial of a meeting with the former Prime Minister. The authorities managed to restore order to the situation by acting swiftly.
