ISLAMABAD: A comprehensive report of the medical examination of PTI founder Imran Khan has been released. The 73-year-old Imran Ahmed Khan Niazi underwent a complete medical assessment conducted by a medical board on February 15, 2026.
The medical board included Professor Dr Nadeem Qureshi from Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital and Professor Dr Muhammad Arif Khan from the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).
According to the report, the central macular thickness has decreased from 550 to 350, indicating significant improvement. The vision in the affected right eye has improved from 6/36 to 6/9, which is regarded as satisfactory at this stage.
Without glasses, the vision in the right eye was recorded as 6/24, while the left eye recorded 6/9. With glasses, the vision of the right eye improved to 6/9 and the left eye to 6/6. The report contains comprehensive details regarding the current medical condition of the eyes.
The medical board has recommended the following treatment plan: use Nivanac eye drops twice daily in both eyes, continue Co-Supt eye drops twice daily in the right eye only, and use Cysteine Ultra eye drops three times a day in both eyes. The second dose of the anti-VEGF injection is to be administered according to the schedule. For further diagnosis, OCT angiography and FFA tests are advised after the completion of the anti-VEGF course.
Following the medical board’s visit to Adiala Jail, Barrister Gohar Khan and Allama Raja Nasir Abbas visited PIMS, where medical experts provided them with a detailed briefing. Imran Khan’s personal physicians, Dr Asim Yousaf and Dr. Khurram Mirza, were also fully briefed by phone. The party leaders and personal doctors expressed their complete satisfaction and confidence in the ongoing treatment and follow-up plan. The medical check-up report has been issued with the signatures of both expert doctors.
