PESHAWAR: Senator Aimal Wali Khan, the Central President of the Awami National Party, stated that there is no significant difference between Imran Khan and Nawaz Sharif for the Pashtuns. He emphasised that even if they were to rule for twelve hundred years, the fate of the Pashtuns would remain unchanged.
Speaking at a large public gathering held at Namak Mandi Chowk in Peshawar, commemorating the 13th anniversary of the martyrdom of peace activist Bashir Ahmed Bilour, he asserted that the Awami National Party (ANP) is the only guarantor of development, peace, education, trade, equality, rights, employment, and natural resources for the Pashtun people.
Senator Aimal Wali Khan honoured Bashir Ahmed Bilour Shaheed, Haroon Bilour Shaheed, and all those martyrs who stood firm for their nation and sacrificed their lives, describing them as the foundation of the party’s struggle. He emphasised that the ANP honours not only its own martyrs but also everyone who has sacrificed for the establishment of peace and against extremism.
He expressed pride in remembering all martyrs, affirming that their sacrifices can never be forgotten. A few months ago, there were attempts in the media to suggest that the Bilour family had distanced itself from the ANP. However, he stated that the truth is now clear: the Bilour family represents the past, present, and future of the ANP.
Aimal Wali Khan highlighted the friendship and camaraderie between Haji Ghulam Ahmed Bilour and Wali Khan, the son of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan (Bacha Khan), noting that their bond has become a historical example. He asserted that as long as Wali Bagh and the Bilour House remain faithful to the thoughts and ideology of Bacha Khan, they will stand by their nation.
He remarked that the Awami National Party is not merely a party created in a drawing room, nor does it depend on the departure of any single individual. The ANP was founded by its elders on the streets and dirt roads of villages, and as long as these streets and roads exist, the ANP will also endure. Senator Aimal Wali Khan declared that the ANP is a century-old movement and will continue to thrive. He concluded by stating that the Awami National Party is fully prepared to demonstrate its political strength in the upcoming local body elections and aims for success.
