ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister’s Coordinator for Political Coordination, Ikhtiar Wali Khan, has strongly reacted to recent remarks made by the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Muhammad Sohail Afridi. Khan described Afridi’s statement about the Pakistan Army as “extremely regrettable and condemnable.”
In a video message shared on his official X account, Ikhtiar Wali Khan stated, “Imran Khan and the PTI have made numerous statements against the Pakistan Army in the past, but Sohail Afridi’s current remarks are more disgraceful and shameful than all of them.”
He emphasised, “You are making allegations against the Pakistan Army, which has been entrusted with the responsibility of protecting the Holy Mosque. This is the same army that has previously defended these sacred sites and repelled attacks from enemies. By making such remarks, you are insulting the martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for this country.”
Ikhtiar Wali Khan further pointed out, “Hundreds of officers and thousands of soldiers give their lives for the nation. When their coffins return home wrapped in the national flag, their mothers and sisters take pride in their sacrifice, saying such sons would sacrifice again. However, Sohail Afridi is damaging the honour of these martyrs.”

The Prime Minister’s Coordinator expressed regret, stating, “Until yesterday, I referred to Sohail Afridi as a brother. Today, however, it is regrettable that someone whose status is only that of a temporary Chief Minister is slandering the Pakistan Army. He should not assume that he has become a permanent Chief Minister. Just as a driver may fall ill and a conductor is appointed temporarily, this position is also temporary; true leadership will return soon.”
He added, “Your statement carries the scent of enemy countries. It seems as though you are echoing sentiments that bolster the agendas of forces that are anti-India or anti-Pakistan, those very enemies that the Pakistan Army has consistently defeated. Today, you appear to align yourself with the enemy’s stance.”
Ikhtiar Wali Khan concluded by saying, “Sohail Afridi is now neither standing with the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa nor with Pakistan. He should reconsider his words and stance and reflect on whose agenda he is promoting.”
