HARARE: The Pakistan U19 team will compete against the New Zealand U19 team in their upcoming ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Super Six match, which will be held today at Harare Sports Club.
On Sunday, February 1 Pakistan U19 team will play their second Super Six match against the India U19 team at Queens Sports Club which is located in Bulawayo.
The Pakistan U19 team practiced at Takashinga Sports Club in Harare on Monday to prepare for their important match against New Zealand, which they will play under the guidance of Farhan Yousaf.
Shahid Anwar and his coaching staff ran fielding drills and net sessions which all players took part in.
The ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup has seen Pakistan and New Zealand compete against each other 16 times, resulting in Pakistan winning 12 matches while New Zealand won 4 matches. Pakistan achieved a total victory over their opponents by 10 wickets in their last match against New Zealand which took place in East London, South Africa, during the previous tournament.
Farhan Yousaf, the captain of the Pakistan U19 team, expressed to PCB Digital that the team has made strong progress in their Super Six stage match preparations against New Zealand through their training efforts.
The team conducted a scenario-based practice match yesterday which enabled them to observe actual match conditions. The knockout phase has started, and all our upcoming matches will have significant value for us.
“We played a scenario-based practice match yesterday, which provided valuable match exposure. With the knockout phase now underway, every match carries great importance for us.
“The players are aware of the requirements and are taking responsibility by working hard to minimise errors. I have full confidence in this group of players. We will take the tournament one game at a time, commencing with New Zealand and then plan accordingly.
“I do not single out any individual in the field as every player contributes as a top fielder. Ali Raza has been leading from the front and his performances have greatly lifted the bowling unit. His spells provide us with early momentum and all the bowlers are executing their roles as per the plan.”
