ISLAMABAD: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed that no financial, sporting or administrative sanctions will be imposed on the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) following consultations between the two bodies.

The ICC reached an official statement with BCB to announce their mutual agreement. The ICC confirmed that BCB holds the right to present its case before the Dispute Resolution Committee according to the existing ICC regulations.

The ICC maintains its operations according to principles that promote fairness while treating all parties equally, yet its functions serve to assist rather than bring about punitive measures.

Between 2028 and 2031, Bangladesh will host an ICC event which serves as preparation for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2031. The ICC will determine the hosting rights through its established process which includes specific timelines and required operational functions.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) supports Bangladesh in hosting international cricket events because it believes Bangladesh can successfully manage these events. The ICC supports cricket development through its member nations by creating cricket development programs that provide real opportunities for establishing cricketing facilities.

The ICC, along with the Pakistan Cricket Board and Bangladesh Cricket Board and other member countries, plans to maintain positive relationships with each other while working towards bettering the game. The parties involved in the agreement committed themselves to protecting cricketing standards while working together to maintain peace within the worldwide cricketing community.

Commenting on the matter, ICC Chief Executive Sanjiv Gupta said Bangladesh’s absence from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup was regrettable, but it would not affect the ICC’s long-term commitment to the country. He said Bangladesh remains an important cricketing nation deserving of sustained investment, competitiveness and global integration, and should not be judged based on short-term challenges.
