PAHALGAM: After a crushing loss in the Pahalgam False Flag Operation against Pakistan this year, numerous Indian Air Force (IAF) fighter pilots have stepped down in protest.

Official records indicate that 780 General Duty pilots, encompassing fighter pilots, have resigned in the past five years. Significantly 163 pilots resigned in 2025, representing the peak annual resignation figure, especially after the May 2025 clash with Pakistan.

According to sources, the series of resignations started after the Indian Air Force controversially chose not to acknowledge the pilots who died in the conflict. Furthermore, these deceased pilots were deprived of honours and official funeral rites. This choice caused discontent among the air force members, resulting in a notable drop in morale among the troops.

Reports also indicate that the families of the pilots were closely monitored for six months to avoid any disclosure of details that could challenge the official version. These monitoring actions were said to be implemented under the pretence of “safeguarding information,” yet sources assert that it only intensified resentment and suspicion among the families.

Specialists contend that the high volume of resignations underscores increasing issues and an escalating lack of trust in the leadership of the Indian Air Force. This situation is expected to impact the preparedness and training quality of the force while also presenting obstacles to India’s defense capabilities going forward.

The May 2025 conflict with Pakistan, which resulted in significant losses for the Indian Air Force, has thus far been the catalyst for the largest number of resignations in recent history. The ongoing protests and disillusionment within the IAF serve as a stark indicator of the leadership crisis and the erosion of trust within one of India’s most critical military branches.
