PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has informed all non-governmental organisations (NGOs) that focus on the protection and promotion of human rights in the province to complete their registration with the Directorate General of Law and Human Rights under the Non-Governmental Organisations Registration Rules 2024 within the specified time frame.

According to the focal person from the Directorate General of Law and Human Rights Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, NGOs that are not yet registered must do so within sixty (60) days following the implementation of these rules. The purpose of this registration is to enhance transparency, improve monitoring, and ensure better coordination among organisations working in the field of human rights in the province, thereby strengthening the protection and promotion of these rights.

The focal person further clarified that if an NGO fails to register within the given timeframe, a daily fine of five percent of the registration fee will be imposed. If a non-compliant organisation continues to operate without registration, the Directorate General of Law and Human Rights may suspend or even close its activities.

Additionally, NGOs can complete their registration online. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is committed to fostering cooperation with all registered organisations dedicated to the protection and promotion of human rights, as well as establishing an effective, transparent, and accountable system.
