ISLAMABAD: A revolutionary blood test which is meant to diagnose more than 50 different types of cancer has moved forward significantly, proving right almost two-thirds of cancer cases.
The test which is still undergoing NHS trial catches the DNA bits cancer cells let go into the blood and can frequently diagnose the illness before any sign show up.
The GALLERI Test, which is capable of being done once a year, has been seen in the Pathfinder 2 trial. It has been proven that this blood test decreases the chance of getting cancer in healthy people while at the same time improving the accuracy of the diagnosis in the early stage of the disease.
Based on the trial, 61.6% of the people who were not presenting any symptoms of cancer had their illness detected via the test. The test was able to find a cancer with its primary site or tissue in 92% of the cases, so it was saving time and money for the following diagnostic procedures.
In the trial more than half (53.5%) of the detected cancers were in the first or second stage, while more than two-thirds (69.3%) were diagnosed in the first or third stages.
