How to strengthen bones in old age?
A new study has found that drinking milk after exercise can help preserve bones in old age and extremely helpful to overcome the losses of energy.
According to this study, drinking milk after exercise can help protect elderly people from life-threatening fractures (bone fractures). As the world’s population ages, maintaining muscle strength and bone density has become a major health challenge. Millions of people around the world are living with osteoporosis (bone thinning).
However, many more people may suffer from osteopenia. According to an estimate, about 40 percent of people over the age of 50 may suffer from osteopenia, which is the initial stage of bone thinning or weakening. According to health experts, continuous and regular exercise, especially training to combat this disease, has long been considered an effective method against musculoskeletal diseases.
But now Chinese scientists say that it is possible and quite effective to prevent bone weakness by adopting the habit of drinking a glass of milk after vigorous exercise. According to scientists, protein has long been associated with bone health because it helps increase the absorption of calcium, which is essential for bone strength and reduces the risk of bone fractures in the event of a fall in old age.
This research report has been published in the Journal of Nutrition, Health and Aging, in which cow’s milk and soy milk have been declared effective as easily consumed protein sources. During this study, 82 healthy adults aged 60 years or older were included, who were free from any medical condition that could affect their protein intake.
