Elon Musk’s space company SpaceX has received permission to launch 7,500 more Starlink satellites into space to expand its internet network.
The US Federal Communications Commission has also approved upgrades to the company’s Generation II satellites, after which the company will be able to expand its broadband and mobile services to more parts of the world. The US agency said in a statement that under this approval, SpaceX has been allowed to build, launch, and operate 7,500 more Generation 2 Starlink satellites.
The statement added that this expansion will help SpaceX provide high-speed internet service globally. It should be noted that two-thirds of the active satellites in space belong to Elon Musk’s Starlink. There is a network of more than 9,000 Starlinks in low Earth orbit.
