ISLAMABAD:US Vice President JD Vance has arrived at Islamabad International Airport along with a high-level delegation. The purpose of his arrival is to hold direct talks with Iran, aimed at permanently ending the six-week-long war in the Middle East and stabilizing the global economy.

The US delegation was received by Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and Minister for Interior Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi upon arrival.

The entire route from the airport to the delegation’s accommodation has been sealed under the “Iron Shield” protocol. More than 16,000 personnel from the Pakistan Army’s Triple One (111) Brigade, Rangers and Islamabad Police are deployed for security.

Pakistan has emerged as a key mediator between the US and Iran. Along with JD Vance, the US delegation also includes President Donald Trump’s advisor Jared Kushner special envoy Steve Wittkoff. On the other hand, the Iranian delegation is led by the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament  Mohammad Baqir Qalibaf, who had arrived in Islamabad last night.

Islamabad and Rawalpindi are on a local holiday for the third consecutive day today on the occasion of the arrival of the US Vice President. All major highways in the twin cities are closed to general traffic and only emergency services are allowed to move. The administration has directed citizens not to step out of their homes unnecessarily and to immediately report any suspicious activity.

According to political analysts, this visit by JD Vance is the most important diplomatic visit to South Asia in recent years, as the success of these talks depends not only on the peace and security of the region but also the entire world. Hosting this level of Pakistan is being appreciated globally, and it is being termed as a major diplomatic achievement of the country.
