PESHAWAR: The Meteorological Department has predicted rain and hailstorms with strong winds and thunderstorms in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir.

According to officials, a series of westerly winds will enter the northwestern part of the country on Saturday evening, due to which there is a possibility of strong winds and thunderstorms in the upper areas.
The Meteorological Department said that rain and hailstorms are expected in the upper areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan and some parts of Kashmir from March 14 to 16, while clouds may also fall in various areas of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, central and southern Punjab.
The statement further said that another series of westerly winds is likely to enter the western areas of the country on the night of March 17, which may trigger more rain.
On the other hand, the NDMA has warned that due to this weather condition, there is a risk of landslides in sensitive areas of Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan, and Kashmir, in view of which tourists have been directed to avoid unnecessary travel and exercise extreme caution.
Farmers have also been advised to take necessary measures to maintain their crops in view of the current weather conditions and expected rains.
