The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a fresh weather alert as a potent western disturbance intensifies over the country’s northern regions. Residents across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and the Northern Areas are advised to brace for a significant spell of rain, thunderstorms, and potential flash flooding starting tonight.
In Peshawar, the day began with heavy cloud cover and a mild temperature of 22°C. However, meteorologists predict a sharp shift in conditions by late evening. Scattered thunderstorms are expected to sweep through the province, with a 65% chance of rain tonight.
Widespread rainfall is forecast for several districts, including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, and Mansehra, Urban Centers, Mardan, Nowshera, Swabi, and Charsadda. The PMD has specifically warned of flash flooding in local streams and nullahs of upper and central KP, a risk that is expected to persist through March 30.
