SAWABI: Heavy rain and windstorm wreaked havoc in Tehsil Razar of Sawabi, as a huge area of standing Maize crops and sugarcane, inflicting heavy financial losses to the local population.
The rain was accompanied by strong winds and storms in different areas of Mardan. Division which have caused widespread destruction in various parts of Sawabi and Mardan.
Due to the heavy rain, standing crops of Maize, sugarcane and vegetable crops were destroyed, causing heavy financial losses to the farmers. Due to the rain and strong winds, the boundary walls of many houses collapsed, and several trees were uprooted.
People in the affected areas were facing severe difficulties and are appealing to the administration for immediate assistance. The windstorm caused losses of millions of rupees to farmers who were expecting better production of maize crops this year.
It is worth mentioning here that the recent flood and long spell of rains have not only damaged the houses but also inflicted human and agricultural losses on citizens. Despite the agricultural emergency, it would be hard for the government to overcome the losses of the people in the agricultural sector, and a heavy financial package would be needed to compensate the people.
