Including southern districts, parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa received a heavy hailstorm and torrential rain on Monday evening. The rain and hailstorm after a prolonged dry spell, however, brought a sigh of relief for people in the holy month of Ramazan.

Including the provincial capital, Peshawar, most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa received the rain, while a heavy hailstorm hit the southern districts of the province.

According to residents of Lakki Marwat, most areas of the district received heavy hailstorm and caused massive destruction to the standing crops of maize and wheat.

Heavy hailstorm has been recorded in Lakki Marwat district and it can be seen in the videos going viral on social media that crops have been badly affected due to hailstorm.

On the other hand, the National Emergency Operation Center of the NDMA has issued a new alert for March 9 to 12, 2026.

According to the alert, more rains have been predicted in various areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan during March 9 to 12.

Wind and light rain are likely in the Potohar region including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum and Mianwali during the next 12 to 24 hours, while hailstorm is also expected in Islamabad and the upper areas of the Potohar region.

According to the Meteorological Department and NDMA, light rain with thunderstorm is expected in various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Chitral, Dir, Haripur, Karak, Kohat, Kohistan, Khyber, Kurram, Mansehra, Mohmand, Nowshera, Malakand, Charsadda, Abbottabad, Bannu, Buner, Peshawar, Swabi and surrounding areas from March 9 to 11.

Similarly, light rain and partly cloudy weather is expected at a few places in various areas of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir including Astore, Gilgit, Skardu, Diamer, Ghizer, Hunza, Nagar, Muzaffarabad, Neelum, Hattian Bala, Bagh, Haveli and Poonch from March 9 to 11.
