ISLAMABAD: Hania Aamir, a well-known actress from Pakistan, has been appointed UN Women Goodwill Ambassador for Pakistan, which is a new milestone in her career as she assumes the role of supporting women’s rights and equality.
UN Women Pakistan announced an official statement on their Instagram account, presenting the actress as the newest member of the global network of goodwill ambassadors.
“UN Women Pakistan heartily greets Hania Aamir as our newest Goodwill Ambassador,” the statement said. “She will enlist her platform to strengthen the voices of women and girls in Pakistan, create awareness, and motivate change.”
The group also revealed that they are excited about the collaboration with Aamir in creating a world where no woman or girl has to suffer from violence, discrimination, and inequality, and thus the women will be able to tap their full potential.

Hania Aamir is the second Pakistani woman to get this honor after Muniba Mazari who was appointed UN Women’s Goodwill Ambassador in 2015. In Asia, she is the third South Asian woman and fourth female personality overall to earn the title after India’s Sania Mirza and Farhan Akhtar who have also been the UN Women ambassadors.
