HANGU: Hangu police conducted a large-scale operation to target the elements responsible for committing crimes and going against the state. They managed to seize a large quantity of heavy weapons and arrested eight suspects.
According to police officials, these operations were conducted under the supervision of DPO Khan Zeb Mohmand and Doaba SHO Inspector Imranuddin Khan and with the active involvement of Al-Burq and RRF commandos.
In response to intel, cops stormed houses in Maroofi Banda, Tora Wari, Koto Manz, and Mehmoodabad areas with coordinated raids throughout the day.
The police after the operation have in custody eight people among whom three are being questioned. Additionally, a huge amount of firearms and ammunition was confiscated which included the following: three Kalashnikovs, one G3 rifle, one 7mm rifle, two 12-bore shotguns, one .303 rifle, three pistols, one 30-bore Pippa submachine gun, one hand grenade, and 130 rounds of ammunition.
DPO Khan Zeb Mohmand expressed again the determination of the Hangu Police to fight against the terrorists and crime subversive activities in the district and vowed to be the first to use every resource at his disposal to maintain law and order and make the people feel secure.
“It’s a good thing, however, that in these trying times, the people also come front and center,” said the DPO. “They are the first to show their love for the country and to be loyal to the people by risking their lives.”
Khwarij attack police convoy in Hangu, several injured
On 2 November, a police convoy was targeted by Khwarij in the Doaba area of Hangu.
According to Superintendent of police Investigation Abdul Samad Khan, the police officers were returning to Doaba after attending a meeting with a peace committee in Karbogha when an explosive device planted by the roadside detonated, striking their convoy.
The injured officers were immediately taken to the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital in Doaba, where they are receiving medical treatment.
SP Investigation Abdul Samad Khan, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), and SHO Imranuddin were travelling in the same convoy when the explosion occurred.
Following the incident, security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to trace those responsible for the attack.
