ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Police will launch a strict crackdown against unlicensed drivers from October 1, with cases to be registered and arrests made, officials confirmed on Saturday.
According to police sources, the action will apply equally to both private and government vehicles. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Ali Nasir Rizvi, has issued clear instructions to the traffic police in this regard.
Special arrangements have also been made for government drivers, allowing them to obtain licenses at their respective offices.
Officials said that after October 1, drivers found without valid licenses, along with their vehicles, will be impounded at police stations. Moreover, no character certificates will be issued until a license is obtained, and personal surety will not be accepted for the release of arrested drivers.
