ISLAMABAD: (APP) The federal government has allocated over Rs 2.43 billion for projects under the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) as part of the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the first quarter of the fiscal year 2025-26.
According to PSDP data, Rs 111.77 million of the authorised budget has been utilised thus far for various IT-related projects.
For the current fiscal year, the government has earmarked Rs 16,227.493 million for the Information Technology and Telecommunication Division under PSDP 2025-26. Out of this total, Rs 15,777.493 million is designated for ongoing projects, while Rs 450 million is reserved for new initiatives.
Ongoing projects include:
The establishment of an IT Park in Karachi (PSEB)
The Technology Park Development Project in Islamabad (TDP)
The Digital Economy Encampment Project
The expansion of cellular services in Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan (Phase VI) by the Special Communications Organisation (SCO)
The National Semiconductor Human Resource Development Programme
The revitalisation of the IT industry
New projects encompass:
The National Artificial Intelligence Advancement Initiative
GDPR-driven ISCO compliance and IT export enhancement
The Smart Islamabad Initiative
