ISLAMABAD: As part of its austerity measures, the federal government is considering a plan to save Rs 154 billion through energy conservation, smart lockdowns, and limited commercial activities.
According to sources, motorcycle and rickshaw users will receive a special subsidy on petrol. A proposal has been made to provide a monthly subsidy of 20 to 30 litres to these users. To facilitate this, a QR code system will be introduced, and subsidised petrol will be made available to motorcycle riders via a mobile app.
Sources indicate that these austerity measures could lead to significant savings through reduced expenditures. The final decision regarding the subsidy will be made after high-level consultations, which are expected to include discussions with the President, Prime Minister, and all four Chief Ministers.
