In line with the vision of the Chief Minister of Punjab to provide relief to the public during Ramadan, the provincial government has announced special price concessions on cooking oil and ghee.

The decision was taken following a meeting chaired by DG Food Authority, Asim Javed, with owners of Pakistan Ghee Mills.

After the meeting, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister, Salma Butt, informed that during Ramadan, each packet of oil and ghee will be offered at a discount of Rs10 to Rs16.

She added that high-quality, subsidized oil and ghee will be made available across markets to ensure accessibility for all citizens during the holy month.

Salma Butt also noted that if prices of palm oil decrease in the future, immediate relief would be provided in consultation with the relevant industry authority.

DG Food Authority Asim Javed emphasized the need to introduce modern systems in the market to ensure the supply of quality ghee.

He highlighted that affordable and advanced methods are available to reduce trans-fat content, and quality and testing procedures are being upgraded to meet international standards.

Strict action will be taken against the supply of substandard ghee in the market.

This initiative is part of the Punjab government’s broader effort to protect consumers and provide essential commodities at fair prices during Ramadan.
