The Islamabad Federal capital administration announced a public Holiday tomorrow (March 13) in connection with Al-Quds Day.
The district administration has issued a notification of holiday in all government and private schools, colleges, and universities within the limits of Islamabad on Friday, March 13, 2026.
According to a letter issued by the office of the District Magistrate Islamabad, all educational institutions will remain closed in view of Jumma-tul-Wida and Quds Day. No public holiday has been announced for federal government offices at present; however, attendance in offices may be limited in view of the traffic and security situation.
Containers and security personnel will be deployed on the main highways of Islamabad, especially G-6, Blue Area, and Red Zone, due to Quds Day processions. Citizens have been directed to take alternative routes.
For security reasons, the entry points of the Red Zone such as Ayub Chowk, Nadra Chowk, Express Chowk and Serena Chowk may be closed by installing containers.
The main procession of Quds Day usually proceeds from G-6/2 Imambargah and proceeds towards D-Chowk. During this time, the roads around Fazal-e-Haq Road and China Chowk will remain closed for traffic.
Citizens have been advised to use Jinnah Avenue as an alternative.
Aabpara Chowk to Serena Hotel: Traffic will be diverted to alternative routes from here. Coming from Kashmir Chowk and Bara Kahu: Take the Srinagar Highway, Seventh Avenue and Margalla Road.
Polyclinic to Lal Quarter: Traffic will be diverted to Luqman Hakeem Road. The search process will be tightened at the entry and exit points of the city, which may slow down the traffic. More than 450 personnel will be deployed at various points to maintain the flow of traffic.
Educational Institutions: As informed earlier, all schools and colleges in Islamabad will remain closed tomorrow (March 13), which is expected to reduce some traffic congestion on the roads.
Advice: Avoid travelling on the Blue Area and Expressway during processions (after Friday prayers) and keep listening to the Islamabad Police Radio Station (FM 92.4) for the latest updates.
